二者都是动词tolerate的派生词，但涵义及用法都不同。
Tolerable的意思是“可容忍的”、“尚好的”或“尚可的”（that can be tolerated of fairly good）。例： Your blunders are not tolerable． 你的过失是不可容忍的。 He is in tolerable health． 他的健康尚好。 He has tolerable income in Hong Kong． 他在香港的收入还不错。 Tolerant的意思是“容忍的”、“宽大的”或“宽容的”（having or showing tolerance）。表示“容忍”之意时，tolerable反映被动的意味；tolerant则是主动的意味。
